Professionally, I engaged Randy to design web sites and to consult with my most important clients on
business process improvement. Our first engagement involved the introduction of Lean management principles
to a spice manufacturing company in Baltimore, Maryland.
After a thorough analysis, Randy provided a VALUE STREAM MAP of the "current state" and "future state" of
the client's enterprise. Included with the future state map, Randy made 50 plus recommendations for
improvement and waste elimination.
In preparation for this project, Randy quickly learned the discipline of value stream mapping as outlined
in Learning to See. Randy also mastered the intricacies of the food manufacturing business from
product sourcing to order scheduling to customer service. The engagement required Randy to interview a diverse
community of managers and workers from all economic, racial, and social conditions. Randy handled these
duties flawlessly.
Since the conclusion of the study, all of Randy's recommendations have been implemented. These
recommendations have guided the company to a 20% year-to-year growth rate with comparable increases in profits
and customer satisfaction.
